TriPoint Medical Center: Taking Shape

The initial site-clearing phase has been completed, the foundation and utilities have been put into place, and the steel has been erected at TriPoint Medical Center, the state-of-the-art, digital hospital set to open in Concord Township in fall 2009. Currently, cement is being poured on the inside of the building.

Here are ten ways that TriPoint Medical Center will redefine health care.

1.  A User-friendly Experience that Starts in the Parking Lot

TriPoint Medical Center will have close patient parking and valet service. An inviting exterior with an obvious "front door" will make you feel welcomed and help avoid confusion. Once inside, way-finding will be easy, thanks to a simple layout and easy-to-understand signs. Hallway benches will provide a break if you want to rest on the way to your destination.

2.  Digital Technology

State-of-the-art, digital technology will support the best medical protocols, contribute to minimally invasive procedures, provide more accurate diagnoses and treatments, and enable faster healing. Physician access to a patient's digital record will offer immediate information close to the point of service, reducing medical errors and enabling timely decisions.

3.  A Private Matter

We respect your privacy. That's why every room in TriPoint Medical Center will be private, offering a quieter, less stressful, and safer stay--and there won't be an extra charge for the single room. What's more, the rooms will accommodate the whole spectrum of health care, so most patients will remain in the same room from admission through discharge. The comfortable furnishings, along with the fine-crafted panels or pictures that conceal built-in medical equipment, will make the room look more like a luxury hotel than a hospital.

4.  Family Space

Each room will have a family/visitor area with comfortable seating, allowing for family comfort and unrestricted visiting. Each floor will have a family refreshment nook, and if your loved ones want to remain in touch when they step away for a meal or break, we will give them a pager.

5.  A Healing Environment

Designed to promote rest and relaxation, the environment will support healing. Sunlight will stream through large windows. All patient rooms will overlook the natural setting, lush with flower gardens and water elements. Sound-absorbing materials will reduce noise. Personal communication devices will replace overhead paging for physicians and staff. Non-slip floors will increase patient safety. Air flow and air exchange systems will greatly reduce infections.

6.  Hospital Food that Doesn't Taste Like It

Healthy, delicious food, ordered when you want it and served at the right temperature, will enhance your stay. TriPoint Medical Center will offer restaurant-style dining that's tasty yet healthy. For visitors, guests, employees, and the community the cafeteria will offer delicious food at affordable prices.

7.  Health Resources and Education

We want you to be an active participant in your health care. Toward that end, TriPoint Medical Center will offer a library-resource center with computers, health care videos/DVDs, tapes, books, and journals. We hope that patients, family members, visitors, staff, and the community will use this resource center frequently.

8.  Dedicated Elevators

During your stay, if you need to travel to a different floor for any reason, you will do so on an elevator reserved for patient use only. When you leave (and you might not want to!), we'll have a separate discharge area, so that you won't have to leave through the public entrance.

9.  Top Physicians and Staff

Lake Hospital System physicians earned their medical degrees from leading medical schools and trained at prestigious hospitals across the country. With their credentials, they could practice anywhere. They choose to practice at Lake Hospital System because the community setting allows them to put the patient first. TriPoint Medical Center will attract the brightest and best physicians, nurses, and support staff, strengthening our already progressive and innovative team.

10.  The Community Hospital Advantage

As a not-for-profit, independent community hospital, Lake Hospital System operates solely with the intent of caring for people who live in and around Lake County. All of the system's revenues are returned to the community via reinvestment in facilities and health care services. We continually look for ways to meet emerging community needs by developing outreach programs and support groups, investing in clinical services, and offering local access to the most advanced technology available. That's the community hospital difference. That's the community hospital advantage.

Lake County residents Mr. and Mrs. Timothy M. Weaver have donated $500,000 to Lake Hospital Foundation to support the construction of TriPoint Medical Center. The Weaver's six children (Matthew, Anthony, Mary, Sahra, John, and Luke) were born at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville; this gift honors family community health care, and the obstetrics unit at TriPoint Medical Center will be named "The Tim and Sandy Weaver Family Obstetrics and Maternity Unit."

The Lake Hospital Foundation is extremely pleased to announce that it has received a $1million cash donation from the prominent Lake County businessman Richard M. Osborne. The donation, which is the single largest gift ever received by the Foundation, will support construction of TriPoint Medical Center. The lobby of TriPoint Medical Center will be named in honor of Mr. Osborne's mother, Georgeanne S. Osborne, his late son, Tommy Osborne, and possibly other members of the family.
